5-7/05/2010: Nairobi workshop

From May 5th to 7th 2010, EPN and its partner MSH organized a workshop on Antimicrobial Resistance in Nairobi, Kenya.

This third AMR workshop, Beyond Awareness: Consolidating Actions for AMR Containment, was a review workshop to share progress on AMR activities and interventions from prior workshops (Moshi 2008 and Kigali 2009) and to make further plans for addressing AMR advocacy and containment issues on AMR. The workshop was attended by 19 participants from 15 countries. The workshop was presented over 3 days, May 5-7, 2010, and included presentations on AMR, tools, reports from participants on progress of workplans, development of new workplans, and revision of EPN tools for addressing AMR.

This workshop provided amazing insights into the work that is going on in different member institutions. With little or no external funds, members have undertaken a wide
range of activities related to curbing the development of resistance, raising awareness and implementing containment actions. The potential to do so much with so little has always been a characteristic of Church Programmes and the AMR Campaign has provided abundant evidence in support of this.
