Albert PetersenAlbert Petersen is a German pharmacist who has always had a passion for pharmaceutical issues. At the age of 14, he was an active member of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA). Through his membership of the YMCA he was involved in the collection of medicine samples for hospitals in Africa and also worked part-time as a volunteer for a local NGO by sorting, collecting and distributing medicines. In 1977, he joined the German Institute for Medical Missions (Difaem), a German development organization based in Tübingen, Germany as the head of the Pharmaceutical Aid Department. In 1984, in addition to his duties at Difaem, he joined the then Pharmaceutical Program of the World Council of Churches (WCC) (now EPN). He has since been an active member of the Network and was appointed the EPN board chairman in October 2002. Dr Manoj KurianDr Manoj Kurian is a medical doctor and the Programme Executive of the Health and Healing mission team at the World Council of Churches in Geneva, Switzerland. Matthew AzojiMatthew O. Azoji is the Managing Director/CEO of CHAN Medi-Pharm Ltd/Gte and Director of Essential Pharma Ltd, Makurdi Benue State– a public private partnership enterprise established in Nigeria with the support of the UK Department for International Development (DFID). He is a First Class honours graduate of Pharmacy from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University –Ife) and holds Masters in Business Administration degree from ESUT Business school-Lagos. Mr Azoji has over 20 years experience in hospital Pharmacy, sales, marketing, business development, finance and strategic management in the pharmaceutical industry with expertise in procurement, Supply Chain Management and Distribution of Medicines particularly for geographically and economically disadvantaged people of Nigeria. He is currently involved in strengthening systems to enhance access to essential medicines in Nigeria and environs. He is a member of several related professional bodies among which are the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), the Nigerian Institute of Marketing, Health System Action Network, and he is a Board member of Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network. Dr Djékadoum NdiltaDjékadoum Ndilta is a medical doctor and the head of the Evangelical Hospital of Koyom, a hospital of district established in full rural in the south of Chad. Apart from clinical work, Dr Djékadoum Ndilta regularly supervised the activities of the promotion of the health care in the Community among the church’s health centers from 2001 to this day. In addition to his clinical formation in the National University of Benin, he is holder of a Master of Public Health (MPH) in 2006 at the Regional Institute of Public health (IRSP) of Ouidah (Benin Republic). Dr Jane MasigaDr Jane Masiga is the Head of Operations at Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS), a position she has held since 1991. In addition to her training in pharmacy, she has a Master of Science degree in Clinical Pharmacy form the Robert Gordon University and an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi. She is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya, the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda, the National Malaria Epidemic Control Task Force and the National Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Dr Sara BhattacharjiDr Sara Bhattacharji is professor of Community Health at Christian Medical College, Vellore, India and consultant to the Christian Medical Association of India (CMAI) on Health and the Healing Ministry of the Churches. Christan Medical College (CMC), Vellore is a 40 bedded secondary care centre with outreach in Slums covering 25, 000 people. The outreach programme has volunteers, community based rehab and other initiatives like mothers groups, school education, youth life skills training etc. Karen SichingaKaren Sichinga is the Executive Director of the Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ), made up of 135 affiliates representing 16 different churches both Catholic and Protestant, with a majority of them based in rural areas of Zambia. Mrs Sichinga’s appointment to the board was endorsed during the members’ general meeting on the 19th of March 2010 in Nairobi. Her appointment as a new board member to represent Christian Health Associations was necessary since Francis Gondwe of CHAM, Malawi who represented this position, resigned from the board in May 2009. Mrs Sichinga brings on board a wealth of skills and experience that will benefit the network. She is a professional nurse and has an undergraduate degree from the University of Alberta, Canada and a Masters from Leeds University, England. Read more: |
