Albert Petersen (Chair)

Albert Petersen is a German pharmacist who has always had a passion for pharmaceutical issues. At the age of 14, he was an active member of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA). Through his membership of the YMCA he was involved in the collection of medicine samples for hospitals in Africa and also worked part-time as a volunteer for a local NGO by sorting, collecting and distributing medicines.

In 1977, he joined the German Institute for Medical Missions (Difam), a German development organization based in Tubingen, Germany as the head of the Pharmaceutical Aid Department. In 1984, in addition to his duties at Difam, he joined the then Pharmaceutical Program of the World Council of Churches (WCC) (now EPN). He has since been an active member of the Network and was appointed the EPN board chairman in October 2002.
