MAXIMISING ACCESS TO ESSENTIAL MEDICINES FOR CHURCH HEALTH SERVICES AND THEIR CLIENTS

There are four projects in this programme area, introduced below.


  1. Access Guidelines project
    Project purpose: The increased capacity of church-related health services to provide effective and efficient pharmaceutical services.
    Project objective: To promote and facilitate church-related health services' adherence to the EPN Access Guidelines for increasing access to essential medicines.
  2. Enhancing the capacity and sustainability of faith-based drug supply organizations
    Project purpose: The increased capacity of church-related health services to provide effective and efficient pharmaceutical services.
    Project objective: Enhance the capacity and sustainability of faith-based DSOs.
    • Increased capacity of DSOs to monitor and evaluate themselves for better feedback and management information.
    • Increased capacity of DSOs in key organisational, service, and staffing areas.
    • Increased networking between DSOs that supports information sharing and capacity development.

  3. Promoting rational use of medicines
    Project purpose: The increased participation of Network members in activities that improve the use of medicines.
    • Increased knowledge and skills in implementing rational use of medicines practices.
    • Increased Network role in advocacy for the rational use of medicines.
  4. E-Pharmalink – a monthly email newsletter for pharmacists in resource poor environments
