TanzaniaEPN conducts a workshop to address Antimicrobial ResistanceEcumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN) in partnership with Management Sciences for Health (MSH) and USAID on 10th-14th November 2008 conducted a 5 day workshop in Moshi, Tanzania, on local and regional action to address antimicrobial resistance. The workshop was held at St Luke’s Foundation (a member organization of EPN) In recognition of the growing phenomenon of antimicrobial resistance brought about by irrational and indiscriminate use of antimicrobial agents among other factors, EPN organized a workshop to share information on AMR and develop strategies for containment of drug resistance and advocate on appropriate use of medicines particularly the antimicrobial agents that are used for treating infections. The workshop brought together stakeholders from over 16 countries - member organizations, clinicians, pharmacists and other health professionals. Global Fund workshop for faith-based organisations in sub-Saharan Africa16 Apr 2008 - 8:00am 17 Apr 2008 - 6:00pm Etc/GMT+3 Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK), in collaboration with World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Global Fund to fight HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria, will on 16th and 17th April 2008, host a workshop for Faith-based organizations in the sub-Saharan Africa. The purpose of the workshop is to share the experiences of faith-based organisations with the Global Fund and discuss strategies for scaling up their involvement and their demand for resources for implementation of programmes More information is available from: http://www.chak.or.ke/index.php?option=com_eventing&task=view&id=10 Faith-based Drug Supply Organizations strategic planning meeting14 Apr 2008 - 8:00am 15 Apr 2008 - 6:00pm Etc/GMT+3 In August 2007, the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN) held an advocacy skills building workshop for its members. The participants at the workshop were representatives from faith-based Drug Supply Organizations (DSOs) in Africa. During the meeting discussions were held on how best these organizations can have greater impact as they conduct their activities. Due to increased competition from global and in-country supply bodies, these organizations need to develop ways to have greater effects. It is with this in mind that EPN will hold a strategic planning meeting on 14th and 15th April 2008, in Dar es Salaam Tanzania with heads of Christian Health Associations (CHAs) and, heads and board chairs of drug supply units. The purposes of the meeting are to: Christian Health Associations (CHAs) conference16 Jan 2007 - 8:00am 18 Jan 2007 - 5:00pm Etc/GMT+3 A Christian Health Association (CHA) conference is schedule to be held from 16th – 18th January 2007 in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. The conference will bring together representatives from different CHAs in Africa to discuss among other issues; the role of the Christian Health Association in the healing ministry and strategies for retention in human resources for health. The EPN HIV/AIDS Programme Officer, Jonathan Mwiindi and; a graduate of the PAT training, Ms. Sarah Byaruhanga will attend the conference on behalf of the Network. |
