The book is for sale both in French and English, at a price of 10 USD. Click here to download the TL reorder slip (283.5 kB) to order your copy of the book. Access baseline analysis report Over the last few years, EPN has been undertaking baseline studies on the access to medicines in several countries. These were intended to measure levels of access to essential medicines in church-related health services (CHSs). Furthermore, these studies have helped in identifying the most prevalent problems in CHSs in relation to access to essential medicines, identifying the priorities and the best approaches to address priority issues. The cross-country analysis baseline report was finalized in December 2010. It covers results from 363 health facilities in those 8 countries, representing over 20 000 beds and over 4 million outpatients. It is available to all. A second booklet is currently in the making. Interested members and non-members can contact us for more information. Back to top Report on quality of medicines In 2009, MEDS (Kenya) in cooperation with Difäm (Germany) started sampling medicines from DSOs as a Network-Project of EPN. In the first 3 rounds of the quality control measures project, 15 of the most commonly used essential medicines were tested. 16 DSOs and partners (EPN members) from 11 African countries sent a total of 140 samples to the quality control lab of MEDS in Kenya. The pooled sampling report is available for members only (Log on and go to Resources for members). EPN Communication Strategy Template This template was developed to help EPN members develop communication strategies and communicate effectively about health programmes, but it can also be useful to other organizations. Back to top Multi-country study of medicine supply and distribution activities of FBOs in sub-Saharan countries Studies have shown that faith-based organizations contribute up to 40% of overall health care services in some places but their specific role in drug supply and procurement activities is not well documented. During 2003, the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN) collaborated with the World Health Organization (WHO) in a descriptive, comparative multi-country study on the work of 16 EPN member faith-based drug supply organizations (DSOs) and their contribution to medicines supply in 11 sub-Saharan African countries. The electronic document is available to all.
Multi-country study of medicine supply and distribution activities of FBOs in sub-Saharan countries (1.5 MB) Overview of inventory and accounting software for EPN DSOs The EPN Multi-Country study on DSOs in 2004 revealed that very few organizations were using finance and/or inventory software. Since then, several DSOs have implemented various software packages. In June 2008, EPN developed a report on the inventory and accounting software being used by EPN Drug Supply Organizations. This report can help DSOs make an informed decision on the subject. The report is available for members only (Log on and go to Resources for members). Distribution model study for EPN DSOs The EPN Multi-Country study on DSOs in 2004 revealed that, although their customers were generally pleased with the services provided, among some of the more poorly rated services was drug delivery. This follow up study, completed in May 2007, was done in order to identify ways to improve the DSOs distribution service. The report is available for members only (Log on and go to Resources for members).
