Réseau Pharmaceutique Œcuménique (EPN)

The Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network, in collaboration with its member, Joint Medical Stores in Uganda, organized a workshop for participants from church-related drug supply organizations to develop user-friendly monitoring and evaluation tools for these organizations. The tools will be based on the successful study done with WHO in 2003 on the activities of the faith-based drug supply organizations in Africa.

The meeting, held on 17th - 19th July, brought together over 20 participants from Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda and Cameroon. Immediately following this meeting, participants were involved in a 10-day (20th-29th July) access to Essential Medicines study in Uganda that set up the baseline for measuring the impact of interventions to improve access to medicines for church organizations and the clients they serve. This work is being made possible through the support of SIDA.
