EPN Communication Strategy Template This template was developed to help EPN members develop communication strategies and communicate effectively about health programmes, but it can also be useful to other organizations. It contains information on the basic principles of communication, guiding the user with direct questions and indicators that should help establish effective communication. The template is available in English and in French. EPN members can obtain the printed template from the Secretariat.
Study tool for survey on antibiotic use and AMR in hospitals In April and May 2010, EPN did an exploratory study on knowledge, attitudes and perceptions concerning antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic use practices among hospital staff in Kenya. The following tool can be used to run additional surveys on antibiotic use and antimicrobial resistance in hospitals:
Measuring transparency in the public pharmaceutical sector: assessment instrument The World Bank has identified corruption as the single greatest obstacle to social and economic development, keeping millions of people trapped in poverty. The objective of thiis document by the WHO is to help stakeholders carry out assessments to measure the level of transparency and the vulnerability to corruption in selected areas of the public pharmaceutical sector. It presents an assessment methodology together with a questionnaire.
Monitoring and Evaluation of all activities within the development sector is crucial. This booklet, published by the World Bank, presents a sample of M&E tools, methods and approaches, including several data collection methods, analytical frameworks and types of evaluation and review. French, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese and Arabic versions of the report can be viewed at: Monitoring and evaluation toolkit: HIV/ADIS, Tuberculosis and Malaria This toolkit is the outcome of a collaborative process of international partners including WHO, UNAIDS, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, USAID, CDC, HHS, UNICEF and the World Bank. The toolkit presents a framework in which to present a selection of standard indicators, for the three diseases, and refers to a range of M&E guidelines and tools including additional indicators on specific programme areas. In addition, this toolkit addresses frequently asked questions in relation to implementing M&E for HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria programmes.
Developing Strategic Plan: a tool for Community- and Faith-Based Organizations This tool by CORE Initiative contains background information on aspects of strategic planning, as well as a series of exercises for community organizations. Each section contains an outline of the activity, as well as clear instructions for conducting the session.
Project Cycle Management - CBO training toolkit This toolkit was developed by the International HIV/AIDS Alliance and CARE to support CBOs in developing countries so they can develop and manage their HIV/AIDS projects more systematically. It focuses on building understanding of the project cycle.
