Leveraging the capabilities of Minilab Standard and Falsified Detection

In February, EPN held a webinar on “Innovative Solutions for Quality  Assurance: Leveraging the capabilities of Minilab Standard and Falsified Detection’‘ which focused on  demonstrating  the significance utilising the minilab in detecting Substandard/Falsified medicines.

The webinar attracted 120 participants from over Anglophone and Francophone countries. They constituted EPN members, member health facilities’healthcare workers, academia, journalists, representatives from regulatory bodies, Food and Drug administration and the founders of the Minilab. The session was moderated by Dr. Judy Asin of EPN and Ph. Cletus Tambo of Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services.
There was a ‘learn from the expert’ session that was represented by Zelalem Mamo of USP PQM+, Prof. Lutz Heide an academia who is passionate about the Minilab and Ms. Gabriela Gohl of Difaem. The technical experts shared insights and possible methods of testing the quality of sub- standard and falsified medicines with the key basic testing from the Minilab itself.

There was also a panel discussion with EPN Minilab focal point members Adentunji Temitope of Christian Health Association Of Nigeria, Edmund Neba of Presbyterian Church in Cameroon and Evans C. Chirambo of Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM).

 

 

 

 

 

 

With the increasing production and manufacturing of medicines, continuous testing is very key in order to detect substandard/falsified medicines in circulation.
