  • Christine Haefele-Abah studied Pharmacy at the University of Tübingen (Germany) and holds a Master of Science in International Health (tropEd). From 2005 until 2015, she worked for the German Medical Aid Organization Action Medeor e.V. as Head of Quality Assurance and later as Head of the Pharmacy Department. During this time, she was in charge of all procedures concerning the quality of medicines in Action Medeor´s supply chain. Furthermore, she coordinated various projects to improve local production and distribution of quality assured medicines in East and West Africa, with a strong focus on capacity building.

    In 2016, she joined the working group of Prof. Lutz Heide at the University of Tübingen and assisted with establishing a research and teaching focus on “Pharmaceutical challenges in developing countries” and specifically on “Quality of medicines”. She coordinates the annual course “Pharmacy in development cooperation and disaster relief” for pharmacists and Pharmacy students, which is conducted in collaboration with further organizations working in the field of pharmaceutical development cooperation.

    In January 2018, she took over the position as Head of Pharmaceutical Development Cooperation & Procurement at the German Institute of Medical Mission (DIFAEM). She is in charge of international procurement for partner organizations and coordinates pharmaceutical projects to improve the supply chain, quality assurance and pharmaceutical management in faith-based health facilities, currently especially in Liberia, Guinea, Chad, DRC and Central African Republic. DIFAEM coordinates and supports the ”DIFAEM EPN Minilab network” with currently 19 member organizations in 13 countries.
